At the Center of It All
Since I’ve started painting over the last few months, the beauty in the small, seemingly mundane details of life has jumped out at me more often. I’ve noticed myself taking the time to bend down and look at things more closely, whereas I normally would have merely passed by while focused on everyday distractions. Colors have become more vivid—or perhaps I’m just more aware of them.
We recently visited one of our favorite places, which cultivates a beautiful vegetable garden, and I couldn’t help but notice the lovely cabbages they were growing. My fascination with the bountiful crop may have been particularly acute because I often try my hand at gardening without much luck...although the critters do seem to enjoy my efforts quite a bit! The way the leaves opened and unfolded seemed to symbolize both the simplicity and complexity of life, its many layers, and the need to stay centered and true.
The painting above is one that I finished a few weeks ago titled “At the Center of It All.” I hope it brings a little joy to your day and that you find yourself noticing the color in the small details of life!
