Announcing Fairy Fest 2017: Come Out and Celebrate with Life and Whim at Traverse City’s Fairy Trails
One of the most memorable days for us last year was May 1st, which is the day that Traverse City’s Fairy Trails were revealed and opened to the public. It was a day of fun and celebration where hundreds of children and their families got their first glimpse at the many magical fairy houses that were built along the Cedar Cathedral Trail at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons.
The best part of the Fairy Trails, however, is the fact that ever since that day, kids have come back in droves to explore, discover and build fairy houses of their own. The space has grown organically, fueled by the imaginations and creativity of children, which is exactly what we hoped for when we dreamed up the idea of building this space in the forest.
We’re excited to make the Fairy Trails an even more engaging, inviting and magical place this summer, and that effort will kick-off in earnest in less than three weeks.
Come out and join us for Fairy Fest 2017, which will be a free day of fun and celebration on June 3rd from 2-4 P.M.
Come out to explore and discover lots of new, whimsical fairy houses built by local fairy enthusiasts – and build one of your own!
Starting at 2 p.m. we will be set up at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons in the green space (piazza) across from Left Foot Charley and Higher Grounds Coffee with “Susie Q,” our vintage camper pop-up shop. We’ll have a kids craft table set up, and there will be live music from local musician and entrepreneur Pete Farmer of Farmer Foot Drums. We’ll also be debuting some of our new Life and Whim goods for the first time in a public setting.
At 2:30 p.m. there will be a musical march back to the Fairy Trails. The march will be a fun and informal procession of kids who will lead the pack back to the trails. Kids are invited and encouraged to wear their fairy wings and/or favorite animal inspired attire for the march (but, of course, they don’t have to wear anything special – all are welcome). Come by anytime to check out the new houses on the Fairy Trails.
The day’s festivities will wrap up at 4 p.m., but the Fairy Trails – as always – will remain accessible all year round. Even if you can’t make it to the event, we encourage you to visit as soon as you can after June 3rd to see all of the amazing new fairy houses that will placed on the trails.
A Summer Full of Fairy Fun
The June 3rd Fairy Fest event is not the end of the fun at the Fairy Trails this year – it’s just the beginning! We invite you to come explore and discover the fairy houses and build one of your own using all natural materials all year long. Searching for fairy houses on the Fairy Trails is a fun and free family adventure.
