A Party, a Show and a Quick UPdate from the Upper Peninsula

As you’re reading this, we’re probably just pulling into our house after a “vacation” to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Why the scare quotes, you ask? Well, it was a five night camping trip in a twenty foot Airstream trailer to remote regions of the UP with our three daughters who are six and under. To many people this will surely elicit a big shrug and, “Meh, big deal.” But for us – almost no camping experience, having never towed a trailer let alone backed it into a small campsite – this was probing a new frontier. I’m happy to report that, although a bit bedraggled, we are not broken.

We’ll be posting about our UP adventure next week, so stay tuned for a few laughs at our expense. Here’s a photo showing the girls having fun at the second Michigan state park campsite we stayed at, which lies directly between Lake Superior and Muskallonge Lake, about 20 miles east of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

In the meantime, we wanted to provide a few quick updates before the weekend.

Greatest Midwest Town Party

The weather is supposed to be beautiful and school’s out, so who’s up for a party? We know where we will be Saturday afternoon – joining Midwest Living Magazine and Traverse City Tourism at The Great Midwest Town Party.

In case you haven’t heard, Traverse City was  named the “Greatest Midwest Town” by Midwest Living Magazine, which is coming to town this weekend to celebrate. Friends and residents of Traverse City are invited to a special celebration on June 18th from noon to 4 p.m. at Open Space Park. The Greatest Midwest Town Party will feature fun for the whole family, including live music from local musicians, food, face painting and much more Traverse City-inspired fun. Click here for more information.

We look forward to seeing you there!
